Using case study and discussion, this workshop builds on the seminal research of Vroom and Yetton to teach the science of effective team leadership. Once people are engaged, successful leadership requires that leaders understand and foster a mindset of performance. This workshop enables leaders to optimally structure all parts of a Performance System – the initial Opportunity to Perform, the Desired Accomplishments, Consequences for Acting, Road Blocks, and Feedback – so that each person chooses to give his best efforts towards achieving your vision.
This workshop is designed to help interested groups decide whether to form a nonprofit organization or to use a for profit model to serve community needs. The group will be introduced to the basics of starting up a non-profit, become familiar with the 1023 application and the steps to obtain 501c3 status with the IRS. The workshop would also be beneficial to any organization that has recently begun to function as a non-profit and those that are in a growth stage and are experiencing difficulties.
Searching for funding prospects can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. The Foundation Search Directory is an online database designed to identify grant resources. Take this opportunity to learn how to use this tool to identify potential funders for your project. Instruction will include a tour of the grants database, advanced search features, and tips to conduct the most effective research.
