Acadian Baptist Center presents Outdoor Adventure Camp (O.A.C.) for grades 6-8 from June 8, 2009, to June 11, 2009. O.A.C. will include lessons about animals, basic archery, compass skills, map-reading skills, and more. The kids will be shown the connection between God, Jesus and the outdoors. We will have times of swimming and other camp activities. This camp is limited to the first 30 boy and girl campers who register by June 5, 2009. The total cost per camper is $200.00. Inside Out Missions Camp ’09 is coming to Acadian Baptist Center Camp. Danielle Johnson and Kevin Richard are leading up another of the exciting opportunities for summer camp fun and learning, June 22-26, 2009. The Festival will feature more than 100 craftsmen from at least eight states. The Festival, sponsored by the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, will include many artists such as Arthur and Karen Cormier, who is returning to the Festival this year.
Children’s book author Kathy Whitehead will make an appearance at the Festival this year. Whitehead’s picture book, Art From the Heart, was inspired by a trip to Melrose Plantation and examines the life and art of African-American artist Clementine Hunter who lived on the plantation.
Other items to be displayed and sold include wooden sculptures, ironwork, handcrafted jewelry, unique yard art and handmade candles.
And of course there will be famous Natchitoches meat pies and other regional foods. There is a $5 admission fee for adults, $2 for children age’s six to 12, and under age six is free. Tours of the main house and the African House will be $5 for the two days.

Birth Rite is a statewide coalition working to improve maternal outcomes. We offer opportunities for activism as well as monthly support groups where women can expect to find local resources for lowering risk during delivery.
