This event will begin with the firing of cannon nets used in wild turkey trapping along with a discussion on conservation by LDWF biologist. The event will include shooting a round of five-stand clays; a still target turkey shoot; an archery class; a muzzleloader class; a small bore rifle competition; and an educational class on trapping hosted by the LA Trappers Association. A special program for disabled persons will focus on adaptive equipment and hunting strategies and participants will be able to register for opportunities to participate in hunting and fishing programs hosted by NWTF Wheelin’ Sportsmen volunteers and the LDWF disabled hunting program during the 2009 -2010 seasons.
Lunch will be provided to all participants; competition and participation prizes will be awarded; and door prizes will be given away during lunch.

The Alzheimer's Association is hosting a public hearing on behalf of the Louisiana Alzheimer's Disease Task Force. The hear will be held on Wednesday, August 12th from 12 noon- 1 p.m. at Tioga Manor Nursing Home at 5201 Shreveport Hwy in Tioga.
The purpose of this event is to receive input from people with Alzhiemer's and their family members, as the Task Force prepares to submit a plan and recommendations to the State Legislature concerning the current and future impact of Alzheimer's disease. It is crucial for the people of Central Louisiana to identify the services and programs needed int he community to best care for people with Alzheimer's.
